Course Description: DLI's internship requirement ensures that our
students gain practical training in conjunction with their biblical
studies. The Destiny Leadership motto is: “Study while you serve.”
The internship is an integral part of the program and must be faithfully
completed. DLI students are not considered “church
volunteers,” but official interns with certain expectations and
responsibilities. The internship involves 160 hours of supervised service
(5.5 hours per week for 29 weeks). Interns must complete this service
during DLI’s academic year, (September 12th,
2011- May 11th, 2012), and should be
involved in at least five of the following ministry categories:
Administration Children’s
Ministry
Clerical Custodial
Hospitality Leading
Small Groups
Media Missions
Outreach Pastoral
Care
Prayer Teaching/Preaching
Worship
Team Youth
Ministry
Course
Duration: 29 weeks (Sept.
12th, 2011- May. 11th, 2012)
Course Plan:
1. Download Internship Contract, meet with your pastor (or other supervisor), and decide upon at least 5 areas of ministry in you will participate. Contract must be signed by you and your supervisor by Sept. 12. If you are unable to find a supervisor, please contact us to make other arrangements.
2. Keep a bi-weekly log of all hours spent doing intern work. You must document at least 160 hours over the year, which means you should average 5.5 hours per week. Either download the log; or, make copies of the hard copy provided in your handbook. Your bi-monthly time log will be turned into your supervising pastor. You may either keep a separate time log throughout the academic year or you may photocopy your bi-weekly logs. Logs should be turned in by May 11, 2012.

3. At least once a month, arrange a brief meeting with your supervising pastor to discuss your work. Talk about what you are learning, and how you are growing. Your pastor will fill out an on-line evaluation monthly to assess your progress.
4. At the end of each semester, write a three-page (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 font) essay discussing your ministry experience. Share the moments that have impacted your life and ministry the most.

Pastor’s Evaluations- 25%
Reflection Essays- 25%
