Fall 2011

Course Description: This course provides a basic framework for understanding and interpreting the Old Testament by offering vital historical, geographical, and cultural insights.  Step by Step Through the Old Testament is a helpful workbook that teaches the “who-what-when-where’s” of the Old Testament.  Ronny Simon will show you the Israel of the Bible, and how it relates to your Old Testament studies.  Finally, the webinar and blogs will focus on the relevance of the Old Testament in today’s world, and help you see the continuity between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Course Duration: 13 weeks (Sept. 12th, 2011- Dec. 16th, 2011)

Course Plan:

1. Keep a log of all hours spent doing course work. You must document at least 45 hours.  Either download the log and return it by e-mail to landon@destinyleadershipinstitute.com.  Submit to your on-site supervisor at the end of the course.

2.  Complete Step by Step Through the Old Testament.  Fill in all the blanks and answer all the questions.  Submit to your on-site supervisor at the end of the course.

3. Watch volumes 1, 3, and 4 of Ronny Simon’s The Israel of the Bible.  Quizzes consist of objective questions (multiple choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, etc) and are open-note.  You may even complete the quizzes while listening to the lectures. You must view all lectures and take all quizzes by December 16th. 

4. Log in to attend the live Webinar, “The Gospel in the Old Testament” on November 7th, 6:30-8:30 Central.  Attendance is required.

5.  Check the course blog weekly.  New blogs, with material relevant to the course, will be posted each week.  Interact with the bloggers and your fellow students in the comment section.

6.  Log in to the Testing Center to take your Final Exam any time during the week of December 12-16.  Final exam will consist of objective questions (multiple choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, etc) and a couple of brief essays.

Grading Scale:

Workbook-  30%

Quizzes on DVD Lectures- 30%

Student Time Log- 10%

Participation (Webinar attendance, blog comments)- 10%

Final Exam- 20%
