internships
DLI's internship requirement ensures that our students gain practical training in conjunction with their biblical studies. The Destiny Leadership motto is: “Study while you
serve.” The internship is an integral part of the program and must be
faithfully completed. DLI students are
not considered “church volunteers,” but official interns with certain
expectations and responsibilities. The internship involves 160 hours of supervised service (5.5 hours per
week for 29 weeks). Interns must
complete this service during DLI’s academic year, (September 12th,
2011- May 11th, 2012), and should be involved in at least five of
the following ministry categories:
Administration
Children’s Ministry
Clerical
Custodial
Hospitality
Leading Small Groups
Media
Missions
Outreach
Pastoral Care
Prayer
Teaching/Preaching
Worship Team
Youth Ministry
Students and Pastors agree to an internship contract, that outlines the areas of ministry in which the student will serve. Interns are required to keep a log of their ministry hours and submit a form to the supervising pastor bi-weekly. The pastor will evaluate their service based on these forms and his observations. The interns are also provided a list of basic rules and standards to ensure that they serve well.
